Hello to everyone Cool Just thought I`d better introduce myself as I`m on the Facebook group as well but never actually made it to any of the meets yet for one reason or another. I recognise afew of the cars that I`ve seen floating about locally. Usually a regular to most of the Ford shows during the year.

I`m based in Farnham and run my own business LDS Engineering and also help run a club called Fordpower.org.uk with afew other guys. If is ok I can put link up to the HFS forum from both sites to help get afew more members in?

Cool I`ll get that sorted out later then.

Daily drive I`ve got a very late mk3 fiesta XR2i which has a `130` spec zetec.

For work I`ve got a mk4 escort RS Turbo look-a-like van running 2.0 zetec that I`m just finishing ready for mot.

And my two project toys are a mk2 fiesta 1.4 ghia running a 1.8 `130` spec zetec and a mk3 rs1600i escort which I`ve converted to RWD and is running a 2.9i 24v BOA cosworth lump.

Proper pain in the aRSe! I bought a genuine rs1600i rolling shell that had a complete rotten floorpan/inner arches off a mate in Somerset for £500 delivered with the log book. Got a auto twincam glx sierra off another mate in Aldershot for scrap money......this was back on April `07! Mine only owes me about £1500 for everything as I`ve done all the welding, spraying, engine rebuild and custom loom myself, only things I didnt make was the mk4 escort OMP rollcage bought off the shelf, modded to fit and the prop I had recon`d, cut down and balanced.

Its all the little things that take the time. I think its easier to use a sierra floorpan than fab existing shell to accept sierra running gear but you still get all the problems with modding escort stuff to fit a sierra floorpan! So its horse for courses really......either way set yourself aside a tidy budget or plenty of man hours! I`ve got a a4 binder full of build pics but I gave up recording the hours I spent on it in the end.

The car is up and running just needs afew external bits bolting on, the brake servo finishing off and passenger door painting for it to be ready for mot but theres acouple of bits I`m not 100% happy with that I need to change and redesign.

fairy nuff m8, i was considering doing a reshell using a sierra floor pan, iv seen some that have been done cutting an adding to make sierra running gear fit, and thay've all been billed as right gits to build, the one iv see done a reshell, the guy who owned it used it as a way to learn how to weld, an said it was a piece of piss lol

Cutting and welding is the easy bit really. Took 2 days to cut both cars up with a plasma cutter and a fortnight none stop in the workshop welding them together while I was on holiday. Suppose it all depends how well prepared you are for it and how you use the time you`ve got. I only had 3-5 hours a night 4 evenings a week as I was working fulltime in my other job at the time.

Plus there was only 3-4 other mk3/4 escorts on the net to use as reference that were rwd when I started mine, theres loads kicking about now lol I should have waited.

Mine should technically have been finished along time ago but lost interest. Same as anything really if you spend too long doing something, other things take priority. Or you end up buying more projects before you`ve completed the last one lol Laughing
